The letter is written from 31 Whitehawk Avenue, Brighton, Sussex and details how, in 1966, when Les Moss retired, he went into hospital for a hernia operation. His GP had prescribed a drug called Lucofen for weight loss to prepare for the operation. Having gone in to hospital for only a minor operation LM ended up having to have a leg amputated. LM alleges negligence by the hospital, which did not examine him prior to the operation, and by the GP who prescribed the drug Lucofen, which was a drug that caused blood clotting. The letter recounts his struggle and failure to obatin compensation and to get monetary and other assistance from social services.
