Letter in the Attic

Extract from the diary of Margery May Barrett

About this item:

Description

In her diary entries for February 23 and 24 MMB writes in 1943 that the fog is gone and that the Germans thought it was a smokescreen to cover movements in the English ports. In 1944 on 'SP duty' MMB writes it was 'awfully noisy' and German planes were brought down - one at Ringmer and one off Newhaven. In 1945 MMB noted that there was no coke for the office and they were having to use an unpleasant oil stove instead.
